Petition calls on Government to unplug Electrician competitor Plan

Family First Queensland has launched a petition calling on the State Government to abandon plans to establish a state-owned energy business offering services to households.

Rod McGarvie, Family First’s Lead Senate Candidate, has called the Government’s move a potentially crushing blow for Queensland electricians and solar installers.

“It is astounding in an environment where too many Queensland businesses are already struggling to create and maintain jobs that any government would consider introducing a competitor to small businesses.”

“In two weeks the Palaszczuk Government will hold a Jobs Summit to explore ways to create more jobs. The number one item of business should be scrapping this plan.”

Seath Holswich, Family First spokesperson and former Queensland MP, said the petition will give an opportunity for concerned Queenslanders to send a message to the Palaszczuk Government.

“There is already widespread condemnation for this plan, and this petition provides an opportunity for businesses that will be impacted, as well as all Queenslanders, to tell the State Government this option is not acceptable.”

“This is about ensuring the on-going viability of Queensland small businesses.”
