LNP open the door to “anything goes” marriage

The LNP led Brisbane City Council has become the new rainbow torch bearer for an anything goes redefinition of marriage. Whether by intent or due to ignorance, Australia’s largest council has pushed well beyond the two consenting adults argument and has endorsed opening the door to polygamy, incest and other relationships  being incorporated into a redefined marriage Act.

The Brisbane City Council passed the following motion (19 for and just 5 against): ‘Supports the legalisation of marriage between consenting adults regardless of sex, sexuality or gender identity’

Any remaining confidence Queenslanders had that the LNP would stand up for the social values and institutions that have made our country strong is quickly evaporating. Any trust in Malcolm Turnbull honouring his commitment to having a plebiscite on same-sex marriage after the election is also evaporating.

Family First has consistently stood up for traditional marriage and the support of family values. This is not something that will change no matter which way the wind is blowing.
