Jeremy Fredericks - Burleigh

JEREMY FREDERICKS is running as a FAMILY FIRST PARTY candidate, for the seat of Burleigh.

Jeremy says ‘Family is the core of any society. If family units are weak and dysfunctional, the broader community will reflect this weakness. If we don’t focus on the family we are failing to plan for success.’

A Gold Coast resident for 22 years, Jeremy is 27, married with a family and works as a professional civil engineering consultant. He also works with children and youth between the ages of ten and eighteen in his role as chaplain and youth co-ordinator.

Jeremy says, ‘My family and I were picnicking at Burleigh beach when the Australia Day Riots broke out. The events of that day saddened many and to me, it became overwhelmingly evident that Burleigh, more than ever, needs to shift its focus back to the family. We need to train parents to parent well, provide resources and intervene more effectively when preventative measures have failed.’

Jeremy will stand for and support any program and/or policy that will build and support families. In these difficult economic times, families need practical solutions to very real pressures.

FAMILY FIRST would introduce training on basic home budgeting as a part of the First Homes Buyers package and would recommend tax and interest incentives to young investors to enter into the housing market. This will increase the supply of affordable rental homes.
