Cathy Turner - Buderim
Originally from Sydney, Catherine is the mother of 4 children (now aged between 25 & 32) and resides in Buderim.
Catherine is a physical education teacher and has spent the past 17 years as Head of Physical Education. She has been a sports coordinator for over 30 years, and has coached and managed numerous volleyball teams as well as organising local and state sporting competitions. Catherine is the Sunshine Coast Regional Manager for volleyball, and is also a volunteer coach at her local PCYC.
Catherine has a passion for being involved in the local community and has been very active in fundraising activities for local sporting teams. Apart from having raised her own family, Catherine has a deep understanding of the joys and challenges which families experience through her many years working in Schools and being involved in the local community.
These experiences have given her a valuable insight into the needs of local families and the necessity for those needs to be recognized by government. Catherine believes there has been an erosion of family values in Queensland, and because the family unit forms the basis of local community they need to better supported and represented.
Provision of affordable housing and essential services such as health and public transport are central to supporting families, as is providing education courses for parenting (such as the Positive Parenting Program) and financial management programs for first home owners.
Catherine is currently renovating her own house, being very capable at painting, tiling, even cementing! She is also currently building a house at Woombye.
Catherine eagerly looks forward to working with and for the people of Buderim.
